“Pay me now and Pay me Later”

• Do you get an all-expense-paid-for trip to some of the best vacation spots on this earth?
• Do you get paid to make a speech or show up at a dinner?
• Do you have a war chest?
• Do you have a title or are you called HONORABLE?
• Do you move to the head of every line, sit at the head table, get served first, and get special parking?
• Do you have the best health care options for the lowest costs?
• Do you have job security for 2 years to 6 years at a time?
• Do you have a job that does not have to answer to authorities?
• Do you feel above the law and require special treatment?
• Do you like to have photo-ops and ribbon cutting ceremonies?
• Do you have the ability to say one thing while knowing you believe the opposite?
• Do you …. It could go on and on just like the Eveready Bunny.

Friends… “WE THE PEOPLE” do not have these advantages because we are not ELECTED to an OFFICE. It seems if we want these perks, we need to run for office and, once elected, all of these will be available to us plus so much more.
Feel like you are being fleeced? Well STAND UP and demand representation from those you elect. Do not be swayed by the glad hand and smile. Search the records of accomplishments by your elected and hold their feet to the fire if they are not standing and voting your interests.
How long… how long will we sit on the sidelines and let Politics as Usual be the commonplace.

Make your VOICE count. Shout from the marketplace to the polling place and let freedom ring. Let it ring in the ears of those who were elected for OUR best interests, not theirs.

What do you call a Senator or Representative who does not support the interests of their constituents on Election Day?
DEFEATED!

  1. Hi Ken Brown,
A good thought engaging article for getting people involved in the processes and issues which are effecting them.
There are so many different issues on the table which are effecting many people the same and some of the issues are effecting people differently. This is why they should be specific in their opinions, when they contact their Congress persons as to how these issues are effecting them or the country.

For the people who have studied the history of the problems, during the development of our Nation, already know about the disagreements between "Capitalism" and the workers' salaries.

If the Nation was not already in the weakened state that it is, would we be confronted with all of these problem issues? At this time period, we seem to have more un resolved issues to deal with than at any time in the history of the Nation.

It appears that every person does not agree or is not aware of the real reasons of why/how we, the country, have gotten into these conditions that we are now in.

How are the masses of people going to be able to borrow and spend, when in reality, the workers' jobs are disappearing and the loss of our middle class tax base is also on the decrease causing the disappearance of available money that the people have to spend? Even when the people have the money to spend, for their necessities, most are their choices of goods available to buy have been made outside the USA. Have the Nation's consumers helped to cause their own demise of their jobs, because of our buying patterns over the many years, allowing the increase of the Global corporations to development?

As our unemployment goes up, increasing the number of unhappy citizen campers, something will change unless the cause, of their loss of jobs, is corrected.

There has not been enough talk or discussion about the negative effects the policies of the Global corporations trade agreements have caused and are causing on our economy. It's as if all of our politicians are afraid to deal with this problem because, it's all about money for the upper classes.

Is this where "big government," as many people want to refer to it, comes into helping of 100's of millions citizens? Also with "some people" blaming them entirely for ending in this position because of their lack of education and only looking for handouts?

So what is going to be the will of the voters in the next election to do the right thing for the country and the people instead of voting for the narrowed ideologue views of a few? Do we really know, even if we elect a new "batch" of people into Congress, what the newly elected persons will do after getting elected?

Just look at what we've already gone through on trying to stop the 400% benefits and wages of the managers/CEO's of the financial institutions. Congress has continued to give themselves pay increases, and now they have ordered their new corporate jets. They have even increased the President's wage, making room for everyone below him to get a raise. I don't think they will give this money up, easily. They have got to keep their status up, even it they don't want to recognize what is happening in the real world of where their money (salaries) comes from. We have had a lot in the news, lately, about where they get their "spending money" from.

Are we now coming to "mob rule" with "Mobs" in these public hearings, being encouraged by the opposing money forces to act up and disrupt these town hall meetings, keeping other people from being informed on the issues? If the "mobs" are acting on their own, then why are they only opposing the healthcare reform plan, and not complaining about the nation's other problems which are really having a negative effect on them?

  2. Hi Carl
Thoughtful comments...you obviously keep up-to-date on what our government is doing and listen to/read the reports from various media sources. What does one believe... with all the untruths being propagated? I try to listen to both sides of the argument (re: healthcare & all the other bills currently up for vote) and then make a decision...it isn't easy.

Ken & I don't have a boat (in answer to your previous question) but do have a plane, so we enjoy the beautiful area we live in from that vantage point. Sequim is across from Victoria BC...90 minutes by ferry, 10-15 minutes by air.

  3. Carl, thanks for voicing many questions and deep thoughts. I appreciate your point of view and encourage you to share this blog with others. If there is something I should do to make it easier let me know.

  4. Hi Skip,

Thanks, I'm not going to make a long speech on this on.
Yes, it is hard to know what the truth is when the words come out of a politican's mouth and even the news pundits. We do have to listen to as many views as possible and try to form an opinion of what would truthfully work for me and my family. Also what is the best for the country without letting the different people who go to "extreme" in trying to change my mind. Not that I'm always right but I try to learn by my mistakes and mistakes made by other people.

I also listen to most of the cable news channels, but MSNBC is the most watched, especially from The ED show through Rachel. I like Countdown, with Keith.

I have been retired for over 21 years, live on the Hiwassee River full time and have plenty of hobbies.

One of my dreams was to own a plane and be able to fly it. Never happened, but it would be nice in an area such as yours.
We fly commerical or drive cars when traveling.

Since I haven't riden a passenger train here in the USA since 1952, have been hoping for the building of a modern pasenger service system, connecting all of our major cities, so we could get on a train to tour the country. It's at the least 50 years behind schedule.

  5. Hi Ken Brown,
Thanks for the comments and feedback.

I enjoy meetting other people and sharing experiences and views with other people.

I seems that I always have more questions than answers to the issues conforting the country.

Don't know if you watched MSNBC'S, Countdown with Keith Olbermann, tonight, if you didn't He gave one of his commentaries which really addressed some of our issues.

Another site which deals with our energy uses in the Boone Pickens site.
